Native American tribes rely on GIS for resource management and other needs. A collaboration led by the Indian Land Tenure Foundation is working to provide greater opportunities for Native youth to develop an interest in GIS through Story Maps. We developed an online curriculum to train mentors of Native American youth in ArcGIS Online tools and piloted the training for summer youth internships in the Lac Courte Orielles and Menominee communities. We will present the curriculum design along with the successes and challenges of the pilot programs and discuss our modifications and plans for expanding the program to additional communities this summer.
